About tykeTALK

tykeTALK offers programs for children in the Thames Valley region from birth to school-age with speech and/or language difficulties. It is a partnership of service provider agencies. The tykeTALK Health Promoter offers information for parents and community professionals on speech and language milestones and when and how to refer to tykeTALK.

Our focus is on early identification of speech and language problems. Assessment and therapy, if indicated are provided by registered Speech-Language Pathologists. Many programs are based in neighbourhoods across the region.

In response to the COVID-19 situation, tykeTALK has temporarily stopped providing face to face sessions with clients. All tykeTALK sites are currently closed to clients, families and the public. We recognize our role in protecting the health of vulnerable children in our communities and are taking precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19.

We do however want to be here for you as much as possible. Our clinicians continue to have access to voicemail and email, so reach out if we can be of help. Referrals are still being accepted. Please see the Making a Referral for more information.

About Literacy

When parents share books with children from a young age, they support later literacy development. As parents, you play an important role in introducing your pre-school aged children to printed materials through interactive reading. This will help them to be ready for reading and literacy activities in school.
